POSITION: QC Welding Inspector

POSITION SUMMARY:

Inspects materials received prior to fabrication as well as finished components and work in process of fabrication to ensure that all fabricated components meet customer specifications, MSS quality standards, AWS and AISC standards. Complete work to standards and specifications to achieve fabrication compliance and regulations to meet customer and code requirements. Perform final visual inspection of all welds including NDE testing, such as mag partical, ultrasonic testing and x-ray testing. As required by contract specifications. inspect all components through the blast, cleaning, and painting processes to ensure all components meet contract requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Verifies physical properties and size of materials such as plates, angles, structural shapes and work produced in the fabrication process.
Verifies all hole sizes as appropriate.
Specifically marks all parts inspected for acceptance or rejection.
Completes reports to suggest changes to fabrication components.
Completes documentation, data and reports of inspection results. Identifies trends and quality issues, works to identify root cause of issues and takes appropriate corrective action.
Pre and post fabrication inspection for internal defects with material and completed fabrication products.
Maintains a working knowledge of industry standards and industry quality assurance codes AISC and AWS standards.
Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality inspection activities and actions being taken to improve the situations.
Confer with supervisory personnel, management, and engineering to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, quality issues, and fabrication problems.
Work closely with leadman and employees to minimize handling, re-works, and defects.
Maintain time, production and quality records to identify and minimize defects and re-work. Take immediate corrective action as appropriate.
Perform and document all required NDE testing required to meet contract specifications, MSS quality standards, AWS and AISC standards.
Analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
AWS welding inspector certification required
EDUCATION: High School Diploma - AWS welding inspector certification
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time - Hourly
